Welcome to the "new" Reagan Files website

The Reagan Files is back.... sort of... I can't believe it was about 15 years ago that I started the original Reagan Files website. At the time digitization at the Reagan Library was practically non-existent and I had so much material I wanted to share that putting it up on a website became a must-do at the time. I loved that website and I particularly loved some of the collaborations I was able to put together.

Fast-forward to about 10 years later and all of a sudden the National Archives and the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library made an important push to start digitizing records and the need for my original website started to diminish. The heart of the website had really been records from the National Security Council and now thanks to the Reagan Library those have a permanent link here (Records of the National Security Council). Similarly, the records of the National Security Planning Group now also have a permanent link and will continued to be updated as more records are digitized.

Time permitting I will also try to recreate some of the other dedicated pages I had, including all the work done on the Strategic Defense Initiative, the Euro-Missiles crises, letters between Reagan and world leaders, a separate page on Reagan and Thatcher, and well I guess there was a lot more there than I remember.

Why the new website? In between my day job and raising my kids I've been diving back into the Reagan Files.. The original intent of this latest project was just to update my earlier work on the National Security Council and National Security Planning Group and that is mostly what I've done by filling in a lot of the blanks thanks to recent declassifications, especially in the Head of State files where I uncovered recently declassified memcons between Reagan and pretty much all the world leaders he met.  I couldn't handle both terms and there was honestly just too much material so I divided the project into two terms and I'm excited to announce that the first term is now available for purchase in both an abridged (by subject) and unabridged (by date) version.
